All County Football League Division 4
Round 1
Sunday 25th March 2007
Ballylinan 2-12 Ballyroan Abbey 0-06
The Ballylinan Juniors opened their 2007 All County Football League campaign with a very impressive win over the new club on the scene in Laois Ballyroan Abbey. Ballylinan was the venue for this game played in perfect conditions for football and these conditions contributed to a very entertaining game of football. Although the score line might suggest Ballylinan had a comfortable win this game was in the balance until halfway through the second. Ballylinan were edgings ahead after scoring three unanswered points when James Dunne was on the end of a Conor Harrington pass to crash a close range shot to the net. This goal was followed very soon with a very well taken Jimmy Rowan goal which put the game well beyond Ballyroan Abbey. There were some very good and encouraging displays on the Ballylinan side from Jobie Brophy, Eric Kenna and Sean Julian in defence, Brendan Kealy in midfield and Gary Walsh, Jimmy Rowan and James Dunne in attack. It was also great to see some of the older footballers back from injury with Paul Julian and Conor Harrington showing well.
