Ballylinan 1-09 Colt 1-10

An exhibition of free taking from Dan Dalton inspired Colt to victory in this entertaining semi-final game. The Colt half forward notched over 0-06 but his side was extremely lucky to be celebrating a place in the final. Ballylinan missed five chances of scores in the last five minutes as their last chance of grabbing a draw was a shot by David Conway but the shot sailed wide. Colt got off to a better start when they got scores from Michael and Dan Dalton to push them ahead early in the game. Ballylinan battled back through David Conway but Dan Dalton was again on target. Conor Harrington hit back for Ballylinan both two more points from Dan Dalton had Colt ahead 0-05 to 0-02 after only eight minutes of the game. Harrington hit over another score for his side but this was quickly cancelled out by PJ Moffitt and Dan Dalton. It looked as if Colt were going to run away with the game but then Ballylinan got a goal to level the tie. A slight touch from Ken Lennon had the Ballylinan faithful looking happier. Colt the introduced Tommy Power and he was to have an immediate effect as he scored a point to put his side ahead 0-08 to 1-04 at the interval. It was not all plain sailing for Colt as another score from Lar Wall had Ballylinan back on level terms. The turning point in the game then came after 36 minutes when Sean Murray capitalised on a mix up in the Ballylinan defence and he put the ball past David Dobbyn. Ballylinan didn't give up as Harrington sent over two scores in quick succession, but Tommy Power and Dan Dalton put their side ahead by two points. a late score by Gary Walsh was not enough as Ballylinan hit five wides in the closing stages to gift Colt a crack at winning out the competition.
